How PureTenant arrives at a recommendation.
PureTenant reads licences, usage and configuration through Microsoft Graph and the other APIs Microsoft provides for Microsoft 365. On the way from holdings to recommendation it separates what is proven from what is not — and only at the end is there a recommendation. It reads through an application of its own in your tenant, on a schedule or on demand.
From holdings to recommendation.
Every licence passes through the same stations. Not assigned means bought but given to no one; no usage means assigned but not used in the period under review. Not measurable is neither zero nor proof of non-use — the path stops there. Whatever carries indications is checked by a person, and only then does it become a recommendation with reason, effect and next step.

The reason for every finding
Every recommendation states what it follows from. A number without a source is an opinion.
Every identity on its own
Licence, usage, sign-in and permissions belong to the person they relate to — not to a total that explains nothing.
Potential is not a saving
The potential shows what would be possible. What has actually moved after a change is shown by the comparison with the next collection.
Change made visible
Every new collection shows what has changed since the last one — turning the report into a history.
